Support ticket notification problem

It is a real mail, hosted by my server. I added the piping line completely to my cpanel. Is it possible actually to reply directly to email sent to administrator or visitor or they have to login to site to reply to tickets? If it is possible, then something wrong in my system, if not, then all is OK. Thanks.
