Need processor that will allow WHMCS style recurring payments

We have a problem.

 

We've been with a particular processor for 5 years and have a perfect record - not one fraudulent charge, not one chargeback, not one complaint or problem of any kind. Period.

 

Now, we want to use whmcs and that requires a processor that doesn't require the cvv code for the recurring monthly transactions.

 

Our vendor - with whom we have a spotless record - refuses to allow us to accept charges without a cvv, so whmcs can't do recurring billing. You'd think running a couple thousand dollars a month without any problem for 5 years would satisfy anyone. Guess not. The jerks.

 

We need a processor that will allow us to do recurring billing ala WHMCS and that doesn't require our customers to join their service.

 

We don't object to the customer going to the processor's portal to complete the transaction, as long as they don't have to become a member like PayPal or Moneybookers requires.

 

I think you have to be a PayPal member to do a subscription -- isn't that correct? AND, I don't think a PayPal subscription works with WHMCS (Wouldn't we have to manually enter the payments from the subscriptions each month?)

 

We don't object to the processor holding our funds for a specified period of time or any other inconveniences to us -- as long as our customers have an easy sales experience.

 

We haven't applied with Authorize.net, etc. because I don't think they would approve us -- unless they will do it by holding our funds, which as I said wouldn't be a problem.

 

We are based in the U. S. but have customers on several continents. We would prefer something that would work internationally, but at this point, we'd settle for a U. S. only system.

 

Clearly, there's a lot I don't know about this. But, we've got to do something. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

PayPal Subscription will work on WHMCS - you don't need to manually enter funds.

 

You may want to check out CDGCommerce as a viable alternative. I've used them for the past few years. I also use Authorize.net and have done so with them for at least 8 or 9 years.

 

Forcing recurring payments with CVV2 being sent would mean that you're storing the CVV2 code which is a violation of policy with Visa & MasterCard.

 

As for your existing processing company - you're think with your current record they could work with you on this, but if not, it may be time to look at CDGCommerce. Is there any reason that Authorize.net would NOT accept you? They are pretty open to accept everyone for the most part. eOnlineData is another company that is pretty good and they work through Authorize.net. Yes, I understand that we can't store the cvv code. That's why we need a processor that will allow recurring transactions without it.

 

As for our current processor, we are fairly outraged. We worked hard to keep our spotless record with them. It doesn't help us with them and a perfect record with them does us no good with a new processor.

 

Also, you would think that if the CVV is used on the initial transaction, that recurring transactions without it wouldn't be a big deal.

 

If it does make any difference, all of our initial transactions would have the CVV and if they make a new purchase, the CVV would again be required. If there's a processor that looks at it that way, we'd like to know about them.

As for PayPal subscriptions, I think that requires joining PayPal to execute the subscription - which we don't want to do.

Does 2checkout require my customer to create a 2co account to do a recurring transaction?

I find "FuturePay" from WorldPay a pretty good way to handle recurring invoices. Your customer's WorldPay account is created automatically once they make their first payment.

Is the creation of the FuturePay account transparent to the customer? Is there any reason the customer would need to use the created FuturePay account for WHMCS stuff?

 

Worldpay may be the way to go, but I don't like the idea of creating a Worldpay account for the customer even if it is done in the background and is automatic.

 

We're looking at offering Google, Paypal, and Moneybookers in addition to the standard merchant account.

 

Do these three seem like a good combination to hit the widest customer audience? Or, are there other third-party processors that are more important than these?

It is completely transparent; they get an email along with their receipt with their login details and is necessary for your customers to login to the WorldPay website to update their credit card details.

 

We use PayPal alongside WorldPay and that seems to cover everyone.

CDGCommerce Credit Card Processing works that way. It takes the CVV on the initial order and any NEW orders - but all recurring payments are made without the CVV code.
