worsin
How do you guys do multiple servers and handle the domain reg and nameservers etc? I have 2 dedicated servers and different packages for each server and using Enom to register domains. Depending on which package they order determines the server they end up on. How do i make it so their domain has the correct nameserver info for the server they end up on? Do i put the other servers nameserver info in nameserver 3 and 4 spots? Thanks in advance
worsin
You mean to tell me no one has more than 1 server and can answer my question? Maybe im not phrasing it right. I have 2 servers. I sell domains. I want them to work all the time regardless of which server they end up on. How do i do this?
uberhost
How do i make it so their domain has the correct nameserver info for the server they end up on? The nameservers, as set under Configuration > Servers, determine the what will be assigned to the client. If they choose a package that puts them on "Server A" then those nameserver settings will be transmitted to the registrar and override the default settings.

Thank you for pointing that out, it made me realize i didn't actually sign this URL up with a new account. The Domain was added to a preexisting account on the opposite server from the default. The info you gave me is good to know though. One follow up question. What about when your ONLY ordering a Domain? When doing that your not actually selecting a server so it seems it doesn't know to override that default.
handsonwebhosting
Under the Domain Registrars section in the Configuration area you can define the default DNS/Nameserver - or if you leave it blank then nothing is defined and the default that you have configured at your Registrar would be used.
uberhost
What about when your ONLY ordering a Domain? Then whatever the customer fills in for nameservers will be transmitted with the order and will override the default.
worsin
Then whatever the customer fills in for nameservers will be transmitted with the order and will override the default. So they have to know to do that and what their name servers are? seems like there would be a better way to have it automatic or be able to attach it to a preexisting account or something
uberhost
So they have to know to do that and what their name servers are? If they're ordering a domain only without an account, they are first prompted to add hosting, then if they reject that then the default nameservers are filled in and a message states: "By default, new domains will use our nameservers for hosting on our network." What more would you expect WHMCS to do?
