Changing location of the admin area?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I would like to change the location of the admin area so that it is more difficult for a hacker to gain access to the admin panel.

How would I go about doing that? I searched this forum but it did not return any results that covered what I needed.

Thanks

EDIT: Also, what should the config.php file be set to, 644?

Here you go mate: http://wiki.whmcs.com/Furthur_Security_Steps

Yes, 644 is recommended here: http://wiki.whmcs.com/Installing_WHMCS#Post_Installation_Suggested_Steps (though I've got mine set to 444).

In addition to the security steps in the Wiki, I'd suggest you change your admin name to something hard to guess, and also use a minimum 12-character password (mixed case letters plus numbers and symbols).

HTH,

Rick
