Knowledebase Search Function

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Anyone else having problems with the search functions of WHMCS Knowledgebase? The search does ok if it's a single word, and does ok if you're searching for two words together, but we have users that search for multiple words and it shows NO results.

Searching our KB for "database backup" will yield results, but "backup database" will yield NO result as the words are in reverse order.

Or if someone searches "automatic backup" then it fails but "automatic database backup" it's ok.

Anyone else have issues? Any way to change the search functions so that it finds ANY word in the article? even an "AND" statement would be handy!

To save opening a new topic, I will add to this one.

Some of our clients are reporting a similar issue when searching our KB.

Some state they can get results with one word, but anything else, they get nothing and this is thus far causing our support times to be higher as less clients use the KB before contacting us.

Matt, any ideas on this?

I too am having the search function come up with "no articles found" when searching for word that 'is' in the knowledge base.

It performs a Full Text search and so requires an index before it will work. You therefore need a minimum of 5 articles with at least 20 words in each and then it should start working. It will match search terms & phrases this way, but the actual term entered doesn't have to appear in the article, for example "How do I login" would find an article titled "Login How-to"
