jon-e2
any know of any live chat systems that could integrate well into whmcs? I'm just dreaming but if anyone has any ideas or anything that would be helpful, let me know. Thanks!
chickendippers
What exactly would you integrate? I don't know any live chat systems that require you to login before you can use them.
Matthewbb
I remember seeing this topic on WebHostingTalk's forums recently. I am not sure if it would be the integration you would want.
jon-e2
Was thinking maybe existing customers go into the chat and their account details could be pulled up just thinking out loud really probably nothing going to happen with it
scurrell
Better to keep it completely separate IMHO. That way, at least your clients have still got an avenue of attack if your main support is down.
handsonwebhosting
A few data centers have it setup that you have to log in to the control panel (or at least provide login details) before going into chat. We had toyed with the idea here of doing something simliar - it would provide easy verification for our staff to know that they're dealing with customers that have rights to specific accounts without having to ask for login details through chat. At the end of the day however we found that many of our customers didn't like the idea of having to log in for live chat to talk to a tech support rep when the same rep was providing live SALES chat directly on our main page. So we dumped the idea of logging in (for now). But you could probably setup a department list inside your chat program and then have that link from inside your WHMCS and pass the domain name on the chat request. We use Kayako for our live chat and I suppose you could send the domain as the NAME field when starting a chat. That'd be a starting point anyway. If you get your customers into the habit of providing the last 4 digits of their password to you via the chat system that would probably make for happier customers.
uberhost
A few data centers have it setup that you have to log in to the control panel (or at least provide login details) before going into chat. Live Chat is as good a tool for sales as it is for support, so I prefer to let anyone in rather than require a client login to chat,
jon-e2
Well all that aside anyone recommend any specific live chat software?
handsonwebhosting
Have you looked at the code for Kayako? phplivehelp used to have open source on their code, you could probably modify using that. I don't know if they're still open source, but they were when I used to use it.

Lucas
Well all that aside anyone recommend any specific live chat software? I would personally suggest ProvideSupport.com
DataHosts
Kayako is great because if you integrate it with WHMCS you can be half-way to your request for details
