banar
Hello everyone. I outsource email at Google Apps. I have some questions: 1) I did setup Mail setting in WHMCS Configuration -> General Settings -> Mail tab -> Mail Type: SMTP SMTP Port: I tried 465 and 587 SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com SMTP Username: username@mydomain.com SMTP Password: my email password IT IS NOT WORKING. When I change it to PHP Mail() everything works awesome. 2) Support Ticket Departments POP3 Importing Configuration Hostname: pop.gmail.com Port:995 Login Name: username@mydomain.com Password: my email password Clients do receive confirmation email that support ticket has been created, but they cannot reply to emails, I mean they can but it's not attach to support ticket in WHMCS system, it sends regular email. Would you explain me how email piping works? or how it suppose to work with Google mail? I use WHMCS ver 3.6.1 and update lok for 3.6.1 says : "Update #287, Update Added support for Gmail POP email importing with the pipe system" so as far as I understand it's supposed to work with Gmail right? How is it all supposed to work? I'm just starting adventure with WHMCS, so I may misunderstand something here. I'd really appreciate your time to explain. Gears
I use WHMCS with domain on Google Apps and it's working fine. With multiple support departments as well? What does the From Address look like? Isn't it the same From Address regardless of the support department?
banar
Hi Ace, We have 4 departments with different emails Billing - billing@domain.com Dev - dev@domain.com Sales - sales@domain.com Support - support@domain.com
Gears
Thank you for the information. When your clients receive mail from you, who is it addressed from? Are mails from different support departments addressed from the respective department? Or is all mail addressed from the same account/user? http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=17720
banar
From: Sales Department (sales@domain.com) From: Support Department (support@domain.com)
Gears
Interesting... everywhere that I have researched this it states that Gmail rewrites the From address to what the authenticated user is, causing all mail to have the same From address. I will have to try this for myself now. Going to switch the DNS tomorrow. Thank you, banar.
