Frankc
There is a change that I do something incorrectly but I was almost immediately put off by the appearance of version 361 and decided to downgrade back to V360. Why is it that the nice and neat layout of V360 in 800x screen resolution (for public side) was forced to 950 px with a worse layout? Seems that I have to stay with the old system and miss the new features.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted June 12, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted June 12, 2008 How it looks is a matter of personal preference but you don't have to overwrite your template files when upgrading so that is a choice you make. The layout in fact did not change, only the left navigation menu - width is set in the stylesheet so can be whatever you want. Frankc
Ok thank you Would it not be easier if upgrade downloads just includes the changed files so that people know what files was changed instead than to dig into the whole package to try and find out for hours what's chanced and what not?
uberhost
Ok thank you Would it not be easier if upgrade downloads just includes the changed files so that people know what files was changed instead than to dig into the whole package to try and find out for hours what's chanced and what not? Why would anyone spend hours digging when the README.txt file already spells out the changed template files?
Frankc
Why would anyone have to upload all the files if only 5 files was changed so it don't make sense too? After a few months it's not easy to remember what customization or changes was done and it would therefore but much easier to compare / check just the changed files than the whole package. The readme.txt file only show what template files was changed but customization are done on other files too.
uberhost
Sorting your files by date should reveal which templates were edited, FWIW.
joe123
Well , I personally can live with the way whmcs it is now , but what Frankc is suggesting is a great idea , just to download the files that were changed. 1.Select your version and to which version you want to Upgrade 2. download the files anyone who has supporttrio knows exactly what i am talking about and how it works.
Terra
We've modified files & I simply used WinMerge to compare the old/new version. I updated the new version with mods from the old which I wanted to keep & then uploaded the files - was painless and worked very well. I can only recommend using a file comparison program which allows folder comparisons - very quick way of sifting through changes & with WinMerge even image changes are picked up.
