newbie
I get this error: Domain Registered by the same Registrar I have seen two options in this forum: 1) Move services when within the same reseller account (well it isn't in ours) 2) Normal transfer (which we are trying) Anyone a clue how to solve this ?
chickendippers
Hmm, the DirectI KB doesn't seem to say anything about transferring between its registrars. I guess you'll have to contact them and ask.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted May 27, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted May 27, 2008 When a domain is registered in another DirectI reseller account, you can't do a regular transfer as that would be transferring from DirectI to DirectI - hence the "Registered by the same Registrar" response their API gives. The Move Services feature is what you need to use - and can be done between different reseller accounts - as that allows you to move items to any customer ID/username combination on the DirectI system. mns
Do we have this "Move" available in WHMCS?
chickendippers
Ah, I didn't know that function could transfer from other resellers, I assumed it was referring to a transfer between sub-resellers. @mns It can't be done through WHMCS, rather the domain reseller control panel.
mns
Ah, I didn't know that function could transfer from other resellers, I assumed it was referring to a transfer between sub-resellers. This function moves domain names from one CUSTOMER a/c to another CUSTOMER a/c. It doesn't matter whether the CUSTOMER a/cs are under different resellers/sub-resellers/sub-sub-resellers. @mns It can't be done through WHMCS, rather the domain reseller control panel. Hmm. could this be added to WHMCS. Not a vital thing, but something important for sure.
newbie
2 questions: 1) how to identify the other reseller 2) which details does he needs to move the domain ?
netearth
2 questions: 1) how to identify the other reseller 2) which details does he needs to move the domain ? Do a WHOIS lookup on it and you will see the reseller at the top of the whois lookup Unless they have customised their WHOIS that is. To move the domain to you, he needs your customer number and email address, I would setup an internal customer to do this on your directi account specifically for him, then move it to your main WHMCS user account once you have it. Chris Why create an (new?) internal customer?
netearth
Why create an (new?) internal customer? Well because I wouldnt want to give out the email address and CustomerID of the WHMCS customer account because remember this has funds in it. Therefore make one for transfers only and then move them into your account once you have them. Doesnt cost you anything.
