BitPath
All, I know that you can integrate WHMCS and Kayako, but for my purposes I would like to keep them isolated due to the fact they will run on separate machines. It seems that the loginshare feature that Kayako has just pulls the email address, name and password from the source database. Am I oversimplifying this? If this is correct has someone already done what I am speaking of? At first glance it doesn't seem very difficult, but I must be missing something. I look forward to hearing from you guys... -Robert
MACscr
It would be nice if it was that simple, but unfortunately people change email addresses.
BitPath
Yeah, I have been working on this some and I don't have a problem scanning through the WHMCS database looking for new users, then using the API to get their password and injecting that into the Kayako database. I intentionally left the "userpasswordtxt" field blank on the Kayako side as it doesn't seem right to have that information in clear text. The other plus to this is that users can't change their password in Kayako since it apparently uses the clear text version to compare the passwords when you change them. ;-) What I am working through now is the email address issue and I am still running through scenarios in my head of how to best make it work. -Robert
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted May 7, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted May 7, 2008 Could you use the WHMCS ClientDetailsEdit action hook to update the Kayako DB at the same time as the email address is changed inside WHMCS? Matt
BitPath
Hmm.. I'll have to take a look at the docs for the action hook.. That might be a great solution for us that don't have an owned Kayako license.. -Robert
