jnet
I have read the following but it does not apply to my case just I restored my DB that is all every thing was working fine and the folder permission has not changed either Template Errors Blank Pages in the admin area Check for open_basedir restrictions on the server. You will need to disable. WHMCS will not function with open_basedir restrictions on the server. open_basedir will cause blank pages in admin area but not in client area. If when you visit the admin area, all you see is a blank screen (in V3.4 or earlier), then your server may not have CURL installed which is required for WHMCS to function. You will need to recompile PHP with the CURL library. Blank pages in the client area You need to CHMOD the templates_c folder to be writeable (777) and on a Plesk system you also need to set the ownership of the folder correctly - CHMOD is not enough - it must be owned by the user account. Client Area doesn't work aftering installing on a Windows Server After installing WHMCS onto a Windows server, you may find when visiting the client area you just see a blank page. This is caused because the templates_c folder cannot be written to. Even if it is CHMOD 777, unless the ownership is set correctly it will not be writeable. To correct the issue, you need to run the following command on the folder: chown -R root:password templates_c Retrieved from "http://wiki.whmcs.com/Common_Troubleshooting_Tips"
MyLama
I've had blank screens for a number of time and for a number of reasons (usually related to missing files). The manual is usless. Considering the sheer variety of issues that seem to cause this to happen, you would think it would get more extensive treatment. My latest "whiteout" is after updating my configuration file and it left one of my two lisences with a blank screen. Could very well have have been my stupidity, but that's not the point. It's been down most of the day, the manual doesn't help, and it's been about 5 hours since I have heard form anyone at the helpdesk. Hope you have better luck, but from the times on your post it doesn't look like it.
jnet
well all I did was to restore my DB, and I have lots of backup and they do not work. now It is 5 am in korea and am not sleeping and have sent a ticket begging and just today I paid for my full license. I am out of business , this morning clients come and they see blank pages :(:(
MyLama
Well, looks like were in the same boat (just paid one of mine today too). It's really a serious flaw that the admin area throws up a blank screen. I had plenty of problems with MB, but at least I got an error code or some indication of where to start looking. With no error codes and being unable to even access your own admin area, your'e stuck with either waiting for the helpdesk or to start picking through 5000 php files to see which one is missing, corrupt, not updated to lisence, etc.... Hope you get back up soon.
Redsign
You could just reupload the admin area files instead of looking through '5000 php files'. Goodluck, Ben
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted April 30, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted April 30, 2008 Well, looks like were in the same boat (just paid one of mine today too). Hope you get back up soon. The cause of both users issues here was doing an incorrect edit to the config file yourselves. Errors can only be handled when they are internal. If they are PHP errors that cause the system to fail then it's not possible to have an error message show within the WHMCS software as it can't continue processing. And replying to your ticket every hour or so keeps making it the newest ticket. Tickets are responded to in the order they are updated so that just delays things. jnet
thanks but excuse me asking such a stupid question why should I reupload any thing? I have not changed nothing in my server I have not touched any file all I have done is to drop the tables and restore from the backups and I have many backups. I am right now almost offline which will cost me money:?
MyLama
Yes - that's good for people to know as it's (often) a solution and I've resorted to that previously. But it's also a bit ridiculous to having to do so, no? It also doesn't guarantee anything. Ideally, my files would not disappear, get corrupted, or what have you. Not living in an ideal world, how about an error code?

Matt Matt wait a min, an incorrect edit to config file? I added a line for utf 8 which I asked you and deleted that. so what this has caused the problem? Well I might not know nothing about php but it does not make sense that my whole client area gets into trouble. No to make it short I have not selpt and it is 6 in the morning here. what is the solution now?
jnet
OK problem solved got email from matt ======================================== It's your configuration.php file. An edit you have made has corrupted it - either with some whitespace outside the PHP tags <?php and ?> or some other incorrect change. Check that and revert if it you can't see what it is. Regards, Matt ============================== I resored config from my backup and problem solved:lol: I am happy again but for heaven's sake still am not sure what happened
herdboy
Hi Just as a matter of interest , what is the correct procedure that should have been followed here ? I don't see a solution in Matts post or will it be responded to via the tickets?. I feel it would be better if the solution is posted here so it can benefit anyone that has a similar situation.

Matt The edit I did to my config file consisted of adding the directory paths from the manual. I had done this previously and it worked fine, it found my 777 files and my admin area but the link for ticket notifications was not working. When I checked my config files today, ALL of my custom directory paths had vanished on both lisences. This was a bit surreal as my system was working fine for everyone save the url link. I re-added them. The lines for both lisences were identical save the actual paths. One worked fine. The other gave me a blank screen. Regarding the tickets, I think for those customers who are "out of commision" it would be appropriate to provide some type of update.

MyLama
OK - it was white space... my fault (as I both mentioned and suspected above). Still not sure how they mutated in the first place which caused me to go in and do the re-edit......
