Old forum posts

Hi All,

just like to ask other's opinion.

there is a significant number of fixes/solutions etc in the old manual, especially with links from forum posts, as solutions to people's specific issues.

Howver, now that everything has moved to the wiki, all of the solutions to problems within threads, have now effectively been "dead-ended".

the challenge i've noticed with the wiki (which is great by the way) is that unless you get the terminology right in your question, you can actually miss the solution.

I know that eventually the WIKI will be the place to go, but that could be some time.

I'm not suggesting that every old thread be linked to a WIKI article, or that the entire forum be loaded into the wiki.

I just find it a shame that those solutions are no longer accessible.

Is it possible to make the old manual still accessible in some way, so that those useful links aren't dead, and therfore the knowledge lost?

Gee its pretty bad when you have to answer your own posts.

makes me feel like a "doppleganger", or perhaps its my split personality?

After waiting for an answer, (WITHOUT ONE SINGLE RESPONSE), I have found out that it is possible to see links to the old manual, which might be answers to past problems.

I am going to post the how to here, but if Matt removes this capability DON'T BLAME ME. I have tested this on about 20 links, and it seems to work.

I don't know if this is due to recent changes to the forum, or changing the documentation link from the manual to the Wiki. (the former I think)

If you are trying to access an old link to the manual, which looks like below

http://v3manual.whmcs.com/?id=26

Change it to

http://v3manual.whmcs.com/display.php?id=187

NOTE: you should only use this to access the answer to an old forum post, and for all current stuff, use the Wiki.
