lindmar
I followed the instructions as I'm trying to upgrade. EXCEPT I've gotten to the upgrade part and the only option available is New Install. Need some help big time!
lindmar
Nevermind I figured it out. 1) Backup Mysql Datase onto desktop 2) Make new database and install fresh WHMCS over old 3) edit config.php and put the old mysql details in the file 4) re-upload installation folder 5) run installation - upgrade now available - run upgrade installation 6) delete installation folder 7) run whmcs I hate to say this but your documentation is clearly missing nearly all of the required information. I dont even know how I figured this out but the documentation includes NONE of this.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted April 16, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted April 16, 2008 The documentation includes none of that because that's not the correct process for doing an upgrade. From the sounds of it, all you did was change to a new database and then change back to the old one, and then it worked. Therefore the only thing that was changing was the files so I suspect they just didn't upload correctly first time around. Matt
lindmar
I wasnt trying to be uber-negative but I followed these steps and the upgrade option was greyed out. Thankfully I did pay attention and backup my database! To upgrade your WHMCS System, simply follow the instructions below. 1. Unzip the contents of the zip file to a folder on your computer 2. If you have made any customisations to the following files, you should delete them from the new files before uploading - images/logo.jpg - includes/additionaldomainfields.php - includes/pdfconfig.php 3. Upload the files to your existing installation folder overwriting any existing files 4. Run the upgrade script at http://www.yourdomain.com/whmcs/install/install.php (choose Upgrade Install for your version on Step 2 - the upgrade you require will be the only option enabled) PLEASE REMEMBER: Before running any upgrade, you should always backup your database. 5. Once complete, delete the install folder from your web server.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted April 16, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted April 16, 2008 If all the upgrade options are greyed out it means one of two things: 1. The database has already been upgraded OR 2. You are running a version that is too old to be upgraded Matt
