WHMCS 9.0.3 dynamic stripe payments not showing local methods

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I read that the new gateway is supposed to show much more payment gateways around the world. Are local methods like Bancontact and iDeal supposed to be showing up?

I did enable them in Stripe, but they are not showing up. The only methods I've seen so far are Cards, Link, Gpay and SEPA.

I think these are all methods for setup_intent (not sure). It would be nice to also have one-off local payment methods without recurring setup etc. I know Stripe Checkout is able to combine all of these.

Note that I tested it in the correct conditions: EUR currency, account and IP from Belgium, and even a one-time payment package in WHMCS. Yet, it still wants me to set up the cards for recurring payments.

Kind regards,
Niels

@NielsL this has changed since you posted. Local redirect methods like iDEAL and Bancontact weren't offered by Stripe Dynamic Payments on 9.0.x as far as I can tell, and WHMCS 9.1 added them. The 9.1 release notes list PayPal, Amazon Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact and BLIK as redirect payment methods that authenticated clients can use during checkout and invoice payment. The module's own documentation adds that a previously stored redirect method can be chosen again.

If you upgrade, a few things decide whether you actually see them:

1. The client has to be logged in. Visitors who haven't logged in don't see redirect methods at checkout. They have to log in or create an account first. That could explain a test where you only checked a fresh order as a guest.

2. The method has to be turned on in your Stripe account's payment method settings. WHMCS only offers the redirect methods you've enabled there.

3. Stripe still decides what is eligible for the specific payment. Bancontact is euro only and for Belgian customers, and iDEAL is euro and for the Netherlands. So a EUR test from a Belgian IP is a good setup for Bancontact, but a Belgian customer will never be offered iDEAL.

4. They are bank redirects where the customer approves a payment and comes back to WHMCS, so they appear where the customer is paying something now, such as a checkout or an invoice. I wouldn't expect them in a flow that only saves a payment method for later.

On your last point, I can't confirm from the docs that the card setup prompt disappears for a one-time package. I'd test that after the upgrade with a logged-in test client and a euro invoice, and if the card prompt still shows for a one-off item, report it to WHMCS with the order setup. You're on 9.0.3, so you should also read the 9.1 upgrade notes and test on a staging copy before touching the live install.
