Change Hosting Plan Automatically

I want to have 3 hosting plans that are based on the number of email boxes a customer has. Soho (1-9 mailboxes), SmallBiz10 (10-24) and SmallBiz25 (25 & up). Each plan will have different pricing for the mailboxes. I'll be using a control panel that is not supported so the usage details will come in via a cron based import.

 

What I would like to know is if WHMCS can somehow change the hosting plan according to the number of mailboxes when the import is performed? Or would this need to be done outside of WHMCS and then the import process would tell WHMCS to change the plan via the API?

It won't upgrade it's self if that's what you mean.

 

When it reaches the limit in the control panel, it won't allow them to make anymore.

 

At that point, they have to go to the control panel and upgrade plans.

Would I be able to script an upgrade using the API?

I have not done this yet, but in theory, yes you could write an external script that would check for the num of email boxes, and update WHMCS through the API as to the correct package to be on.
