JasonO
Hi, I have my site in a sub folder (eg mysite.com/whmcs) however when testing the Affiilate link given to each affiliate client (mysite.com/whmcs/*?aff=001), it takes me to the root of mysite.com - is this normal? Have I missed something out? I'm not sure what the Affiliate Links is related, as I have no idea what that is either. Thanks for your help.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted January 20, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted January 20, 2008 That's completely normal. The user who follows the affiliate link gets taken to your websites homepage just like a regular visitor would first see when visiting. JasonO
Ahh ok fair enough I see why it's like that now. So if the user was to browse my website, and then go and order something later - the affiliate will still be rewarded for this? Also, could you tell me what the Affiliate Links are - i'm not 100% sure what they are used for yet. Thanks for your help.
ask21900
I'm pretty sure that the affiliate link runs a script to place a cookie, and then redirects. So, yes. The affiliate still gets credit for the sale, because the cookie says so... What do you mean by affiliate links? Are you reffering to the area in your affiliate config page? If so, this is a place where you can add code for banners or links, rather than going into the template file to add the link. When you add code here, the customer will see something like this: http://www.whmcs.com/clients/affiliates.php (You probably will have to log in first to view example)
Nick
The * file is also unencoded, so you can make changes and have it redirect elsewhere, if you so wish
