Domain Renewal doesn’t update automatically when invoice has been marked as paid

We have an integrated system with WHMCS where our system detects manual payments or bank transfers and we update invoices with the API, but after the invoice is successfully updated, the domain that is correlated with the invoice is not updated for the expiration date and next due date.

is this an issue from whmcs or do i need to trigger a domain renewal when updating the invoice?
