Can't log in after install.

I've installed WHMCS v8.1.3 using one-click installer from within 20i reseller dashboard.  The steps could not be less complicated: Choose Domain, Choose Directory, License Key (pre-filled) Email, User, Pass,  Install.

Upon completion of the install, I navigate to login and cannot.  First time round, I thought it was perhaps my error, so tried to reset password.  When I tried to reset the password, whether I used email or username to retrieve the new password, I receive the following error: "There was an error sending the email. Please try again."

I thought to myself, I've probably miskeyed the email address, so uninstalled and reinstalled fresh, paying extra care when inputting details... Same outcome.  Cannot login, cannot reset password.  I have changed the password within the database, by going to the tbladmins table, editing my user, updating the password field, and changing the function to MD5, but the issue still persists.  

20i support have not been able to help in any way, other than to point me here.  I would be grateful to anyone who can help.
