question regarding domain registrations with WHMCS

FPForum

Question

Well, I'm still new to the webhosting/registration industry and trying to figure everything out, I am also still in my trial period of WHMCS. Here's where I'm kind of stumped.

I have recently launched my new web hosting site and have WHMCS all setup. The web hosting portion is working great and I love it. I have my domain pricing set and my registrar configuration information in (I'm using the DirectI reseller account WHMCS gives you)

My question is, what exactly is going to happen when someone registers a domain through my site? Will they be sent an email with the reseller link DirectI gave me? The thing is, I noticed in the directI client panel they offer web hosting, website builder, all this other stuff I really don't want my clients seeing. I would like them to be able to manage the domain through the WHMCS client panel. Is this possible?

Also, do I need to load my directI client account with prepaid funds?

Can anyone inform me what exactly happens once someone goes to my site, finds an available domain name they want, then registers it?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome, FPForum!

When one of your clients registers a domain, they never leave your site. As for the domain confirmation email, this comes from you, too. If you'd like to see what the client is sent, open your WHMCS admin panel, go to the Configuration menu, and click Email Templates. Under Domain Messages you will be able to see the emails that are automatically sent upon registration, etc.

As to funding, yes, you must put funds into your Directi account. You must also create a "customer" account which is used to resell the domains, as this cannot be done directly from your master account. Once created, transfer the funds into your customer account, then you are all set to begin selling domain names.

Good luck!

Uberhost, thanks for the info you answered my question. Boy, I am really loving WHMCS.

So here is another sinario...If someone buys a domain and hosting from me, then 3 months down the line says..I am going to sell my site, can they transfer the domain to a new owner from inside my WHMCS? If they want to transfer to a new hosting provider will they be given the secret code in my WHMCS required to transfer out a domain?

Also, if the automatic registration feature is turned on, will this still register a domain if they have not made payment? I only want to register the domain once payment is made (which is usually right away)

Finally, once someone registers the domain and makes payment, the domain order is automatically added to their account correct? Or do I need to manually find them, and add a domain order with that domain to their account?

Thanks :)

No, WHMCS will not register the domain automatically until the client has paid for it so you won't lose money in that way. And the domain order will be automatically added to their account - no manual actions involved.

Your clients will not be able to get the EPP code for domains registered with you from the client area - you don't want to make it to easy to leave!
