How to access language variables in Module Hooks

Global language variables can me accessed via the `LANG::trans` function, but is it also possible to access a modules translation variables in the modules `hooks.php`?

According to the documentation they only get passed to the `_output` and `_sidebar` functions array as `_lang`.
