Billing annual products by the month?

I've taken the plunge and migrating my cica 90s billing system. There are a few things our current billing system does that I can't find corresponding functions. I'll create separate threads as I come across them.

First, I have a product that we offer the customer on a month-to-month basis or a 1 year commitment that they pay a discounted rate, but still month-to-month(with an early cancellation fee). On the yearly service, we also give first 3 months at a discount and then bill month-to-month at a reduced rate from the the non-commitment price. I was hoping to do this with 1 product, but it appears I probably will need to have two separate products to do this using the Promo code method for the yearly product?

However, one thing our system does that I can't see how to do with WHMCS is at the end of the 1 year commitment we have a scheduled automated product change that converts the account to the higher month-to-month rate unless the customer "re-ups". Is there a way to do this automatically with no service interruption or is this something I'll need to have customized?

And with the 1 year, I don't see how to charge an early-termination fee? Only thing I found searching was this thread: https://requests.whmcs.com/topic/monthly-billing-over-a-fixed-term-contract but that went no where and was 3 years ago.

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated,

Bob
