Custom Product/Service like Custom Addon?

ganesh.rao

Question

Hello,

We just moved to WHMCS and it works a treat, even with SSL enabled its superfast as apposed to snail-load time of ClientExec. Hence we bought a owned+no branding. So I couldn't call this a "pre-sale" but my question is like one of it...

Our hosting firm, keeps coming with all insane offers every now and then. As in, 15 instant dedicated servers, 2 months free VPS and so on. While on ClientExec, we would add a custom product (label it anything) put any price and any billing term and choose any payment gateway and then send the invoice.

I found a similar feature - the custom "Addons" for a product service. I put whatever I want in the name field and price it as to my liking and finally add it to the total.

Is there a possibility to add a product/service like this? I mean, I don't to add it as a regular product available via the order form (even knowing I can keep it hidden). That product should be available only to the client I add it to (and yes, the client is also added manually).

Please get back to me on this as soon as possible.

PS: If such a feature could be made available via a custom module (that is, if it is not built right into WHMCS already) ~ could someone be kind enough to express briefly how much it would cost?

Best Regards,

Ganesh Rao

Hi Ganesh,

Unfortunately this won't be possible. Products & services rely on the product relationship and so having a custom one without product won't work. My suggestion would be to create a generic product with a custom field you can put a description in and then display this in the client area.

Hello Matt,

First of all thanks for the speedy response :) Now getting back to my questions...

But then, what about the billing term and cost for this product/service? If I do have a generic product and then do as you said, when I enter the custom pricing, term, etc and check that "Auto Calculate on Save" it resets back to whatever I had set it while creating this generic product. :(

Am I using that "Auto Calculate on Save" feature incorrectly?

Best Regards,

My problem is this...

a customer buys hosting and a design package from me.

3 months later they want to purchase an addon for that domain. like say 5 more pages designed... as of right now i use another shopping cart program to sell just that and have two invoices...

can this billing software update their existing invoice and package to reflect the new purchase... and can they get this addon by just going through and purchasing it on the site... even if it emails me to manually add the service.

the new invoice is fine.. i just installed the program to ry itout since my host offers it as a free package with their hosting service, and have been setting up and importing things from my old autopilot installation.

how do i add said addon? or is this like autopilot where i would need the customer to upgrade the entire packge and make a new package accordingly.? or in teh customers log in panel can they just click something that says purchase add on and just buy an add on? like 50 more mb of storage or 5 pages designed by us?

also on a side note... can you add a package that when selected updates the storage amount... say 50 meg of space selected at the initil purchase.. autopilot allowed this but i seem to be missing how to do it in this software...

i notice you can add an add on manually in the admin area but it does not update and create a new invoice to reflect it...
