cPanel account creation failing

Hello,

 

We've having some issues with our cPanel account creations. Here is the message we're getting:

 

Server Command Error

Account Creation Failed: Socket Connection Failed (Success)

 

I've searched the forum and KB and can't really find this same thing. The server appears to be setup properly as we can log in from the WHMCS admin area to WHM and it works fine.

 

My questions are:

 

- Is there a log anywhere for what's sent to the server / what comes back etc. so we can debug this.

 

- In the server config we put in a hostname instead of an IP address as we have a valid SSL cert for the host name. Will this work or does it need to be an IP address (and then can we still use SSL as it will throw a warning).
