"error reading headers" when trying to add support departments

WHMCS 5.3.6 (upgraded from 5.2.x)

Centos 6.5 x64

 

I just updated to 5.3.6 yesterday, and I'd like to know if anyone can recreate this behavior.

 

While trying to add a support department (Setup -> Support -> Support Departments), I get an error in the browser after submitting, and the following error in my logs:

 

[Wed Apr 09 11:49:55 2014] [error] [client x.x.x.x] request failed: error reading the headers, referer: http://I'm-hiding-my-domain.net/whmcs/admin/configticketdepartments.php?action=add

 

I also get the same error when I edit one specific support option on the Setup -> General -> Support tab... I can change all option on this tab and save without issue, but if I check the "Service Status Require Login - Require a login to view the server status & network issues pages" box and try to save, I get the "error reading headers" message in my log.

This is actually worse than originally reported. After getting these errors, my domain registration setting tab was cleared of all selections!

 

This is very, very strange. Thankfully, we're not yet selling yet. I may drop the db and do a fresh install.
