How to make required valid e-mail adress in register client form ???

Hello there! Could any one please tell me if it is possible that client that are registering for the first time can register only with valid email adress, like gmail,yahoo,hotmail etc, and for activating their account they should confirm in their email adresses.. can somebody help me please, because at this time anyone can be registered with an fake email adress without any confirmation,
