Vilarix
Hello, I know we can offer subdomains with WHMCS but can we offer a default site and database to clients too and prevent access to files and DB? Like Tumblr, Blogger or any blog service which gives subdomains but no FTP access, only administration through an admin panel. Thank you!
0 Alex - Arvixe
Through Softaculous you could make this possible. Look here: http://www.softaculous.com/docs/WHMCS_Auto_Install_Module So you could set your order forms to include any and all of the Softaculous scripts (They set the database name, directory etc...) during the order form. Then you can simply edit the welcome emails etc... to cut out all of the cPanel login information and just offer their login details to their chosen scripts. Albeit this system is not designed for this but it is a nice work around making this possible.
0 Vilarix
Thank you for your reply! However I would like to offer my own default site, not the ones provided by Softaculous. Not sending the login infos is a great idea though! Which leads mr to two other questions: Can I provide subdomains if I don't own a VPS? Simple webhost like Dreamhost is enough? Can I set default files in their www folder when they buy a hosting? I could do it manually but that would take some time...

If your at a VPS level with Softaculous you can use custom scripts. This is probably the easiest way if you require database, admin login details etc... all configured and set to go once an account is ordered / setup. On a reseller level+ you can set your own files for a website via skeleton files. Which leads mr to two other questions: Can I provide subdomains if I don't own a VPS? At minimum you would require a reseller account. With some custom development you probably could do this on a shared account level but it would impose some rather large security risks and is not recommended. For $20/m (with coupon) you can get with us a reseller account, free whmcs, free dedicated IP, ssl certificate, free domain name & much more with no security risk for the type of operator you want to do. 2. You can set the default files in the public_html folder for when accounts are setup using skeleton files in cPanel file manager. - removed - Edited July 27, 2013 by Infopro removed last line
