Clinent banned by csf+lfd. Unbanned, now gets "invalid login" message

I have a client who, not remembering the password to the client area or the cpanel access account, kept attempting to log in to the point that cpanel's csf+lfd put him on the Deny list. At that point he couldn't even get the site to resolve.

I unbanned him (removed the Deny entry) ; now he can access the login page, but is receiving "invalid login" responses from WHMCS. His partner, from another computer, has no problem accessing the account using the same username/password combination. It goes without saying I can log in as the client as well, from multiple browsers, from non-whitelisted IPs.

I've checked csf+lfd files so I know his IP is Allowed. I've checked the WHMCS database to ensure his IP is not in the banned table. I've had the system send out a much less complicated password he could attempt... no luck. CPanel logs confirm his invalid login attempts/messages. I've gone so far as to force a reload of cpanel to make sure there are no creeping file corruption issues.

He swears he's entering the login information correctly. I've had him flush his DNS cache and retry, without success. Any thoughts or ideas as to what might be going on?
