MAJOR Situation with Moneris, Ghost Credit Cards and More

Hi Team,

A pretty big client of mine is having some serious issues with their WHMCS install. Here is the situation:

  • One client's credit card has been automatically billed for a number of other clients in the system
  • Certain clients who DO NOT have a credit card on file, are having their invoice paid by a "ghost credit card". This client pays via cash, but cron.php is billing a card that they do not have on file. They also have never logged in.
  • Multiple "ghost" credit cards are being billed for clients, even clients with no credit card on file!

Because of this situation, they are receiving a charge back from that one customer for about $5,000.

Where should I start looking to find out where these ghost cards are coming from, why one credit card is being processed for the invoices of the entire system, and how to resolve this.

I am using WHMCS 5.1 with Centos 5.8 and Moneris as my payment gateway.

All and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi J,

I have opened a ticket for this situation, but I also wanted to put it forth to the community to see whether others may have had issues such as these, or if I'm the odd ball :)

Do any of the above situations seem plausible? What are your thoughts given the circumstances?
