Fraud Signups

Hi,

 

Just thought I would see how many attempted fraud signups we all get?

 

We have had 16 in the last 2 weeks (all stopped by maxmind)

 

I was summoned on live support yesterday by one attempt advising their order wouldnt go through!

 

I checked their IP Lagos.Nigeria so asked him where he was he advised US.

 

I then said how is the weather in Lagos!

 

He said where is Lagos?

 

I said I think its your countrys capital!!

 

"ah yes I use an IP anonymiser" and asked if I would process the order my end!!

 

I am amazed by the bare faced cheek of some people!

 

Thats the price you pay for being high in google.com.ng for the stuff they search for I guess :-(

He have had many instant chats with fraud users too.

We have heard every exuse in the book as to why they are in some 3rd world country but their billing address is really the USA and they are just traveling.... or whatever excuse they think up.

 

We after at least 50 fraud orders per 30days

 

Maxmind is a blessing and helps alot.... You can also look for the obvious in their order... Like ordering the most expensive product you offer with every addon. Also 90% of all fraud orders will also opt. for a dedicatated IP. Most fraud orders will also use some free mail services. Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, etc.; blocking these email address in WHMCS and forcing the client to use their ISP email account stops alot of fraud.

 

Any business they sells an electronic based serverice or products is 75% of all credit card fraud.
