f9dc
I'll need to start collecting sales tax on the software portion of my invoices (cPanel, Softaculous, etc) in order to comply with new laws in my state. I see that WHMCS allows me to collect tax on the entire package, but I don't see any easy way to collect it just on the configurable options. Is there a way to do this?
f9dc
Judging by the lack of response, I assume there's no easy way to do this. This is going to become an increasingly important feature as more and more states start demanding tax collection on software licensing. Even though web hosting as a service is usually non-taxable, a growing number of US states (14 now, IIRC) require sales tax collection on any licensed software such as cPanel, Windows, etc. The only workaround at the moment appears to be to create all the control panels in a separate product entirely, which is awkward at best. At worst, it may lead the customer to believe that you don't offer any control panels, since they won't appear as a VPS / dedicated server configurable option.
