Uniforum EPP module provided to Domains.co.za customers.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

If you are a Uniforum registrar or looking to become one you could sign up with http://www.domains.co.za .

We provide registrars on our platform with a free WHMCS module.

We offer a white labelled Multi Registrar / Reseller EPP platform to successfully register new domain names and manage existing domain names using uniforum's new EPP Solution.

We handle your entire technical accreditation process with Uniforum and assist you as a Uniforum registrar.

Our platform is used by some of the largest EPP registrars in South Africa and with our ICANN Accreditation, international domains will also be brought into our platform, we will be the first South African ICANN accredited company to directly sell international domains.

Our Platform:

-------------

Each registrar has their own ip addresses and pipes to Uniforum.

All registrar communication is done over IPV6 to uniforum with an average of 4.5ms latency.

We have an extensive JSON API which can be used for any system integration.

We have a web based control panel which registrars can login and administer their domains.

Our platform allows you to bring your legacy domains across to EPP.

-------------

Taking a quick look at existing Uniforum EPP modules available there are a number of potential issues which our module overcomes:

- The current way of reading off the EPP socket is going to break in the near future with an OpenSSL update that is going to be pushed.

- The code does not support the EPP tunnels or queuing, so multiple simultaneous queries will cause an error.

- There is no facility to read the EPP Poll for messages (currently)

- No facility to monitoring of domain transfers.

- No facility for sync'ing your domains in whmcs with what's on EPP. (currently)

- The register domain and transfer domain is going to fail if your customers phone number does not conform to format requested by Uniforum.

- The domains are automatically registered with auto-renew on (on uniforum's side) - When whmcs does it's auto renewal your registrar account is going to be double billed.

- No Ability to hand Uniforum's GLUE records for nameservers.

Our whmcs module is provided free of charge to the registrars on our platform and is actively being developed on a daily basis.

Key Features:

-------------

- Register domains.

- Transfer domains.

- Automatically monitor domain transfers.

- Automatically synchronize your expiry dates with the registry.

- Update Nameservers.

- Manage nameserver GLUE records (IPV4 and IPV6 Support).

- Ability to use our Premium DNS service.

- We have 4 redundant IPV4/IPV6 enterprise Nameservers on 4 seperate IP networks.

- View a domain history of a domain.

- Manually renew a domain

- Allow WHMCS to handle the automatic renewal of domains without the double bill from the registry.

- Update registrant contact information.

- Your registrar .pem file is stored in our secure environment and not in your whmcs installation.

-------------

In Addition to this registrar module, a Registrar Admin Addon module is currently being developed by us which will provide information such as:

- Your current registrar balance with Uniforum.

- Overview of domains expiring in the next 7, 14, 30, 60 and 90 days.

- Overview of domains which have expired.

- Overview of domains which are being transferred in and transferred out with statuses.

- Access to your Poll messages which contain information regarding:

- Contact updates

- Domain updates & failures

- Domain deletions

- Nameserver updates & failures

- Domain renewals

- Domain transfers

- WHMCS / Domains.co.za synchronization:

- This will automatically adjust the WHMCS registrar of domains you have on the domains platform.

This will avoid you having to manually change the registrar module associated with a domain once it's been moved from legacy to EPP.

Murmaider,

This looks good.

But I would initially be more keen to just pay for the module. Could you factor that into your offering?

Hi Select,

Unfortunately not. The module speaks to our API, which means that your registrar account needs to be setup in our platform.

There is no way to do what this module does if you speak direct EPP to the registry.

The way the billing works is that we charge a very small fee per/domain monthly that is on our platform as a management fee. With this management fee we provide:

- We handle your entire technical accreditation (we can usually complete this in under 8 minutes).

- Registrar technical support.

- Development assistance.

- The WHMCS module with support.

- The up and coming WHMCS Admin Addon with support.

- We liaise with the registry on your behalf regarding problems.

- Assist with the importing of domains from Legacy to the EPP.

- Access to a complete registrar control panel.

- Access to our extensive API.

- We in constant contact the registry developers to ensure the platform is always up to date.

- (soon) the ability to serve domain information requests even if the registry is down.

Some new updates have already been brought into the module:

- The choice of having a single unique registrant ID at the registry per/customer or per/domain. This means that if a customer has 10 domains, they can all be linked to the same registrant ID (making management and contact updates easier) or you can choose to have a separate registrant ID for each of the domains.

- Visibility as far as Pending Contact Updates and Pending Domain Updates go.

- (in development) The ability to cancel pending contact updates and pending domain updates.

So, if I understand:

1. An already accredited registrar must sign-up on your platform.

2. If running WHMCS, you provide the module to talk to the registry via your platform.

3. Have domain management access, paying small fee monthly per domain.

Correct?

Care to mention the fee...

1) If you are an existing registrar we can bring you onto our platform.

If you are not an accredited registrar and want to become one, we do about 90% of the accreditation for you. You simply need to sign the registry documents and load your registry account with funds.

2) Correct, the module speaks to our API and then our platform speaks to the registry. But this isn't a 1:1 call against the registry. The way our platform is designed allows us to give more information in our API calls than you would get from a simply EPP command direct the registry. For example, when doing a contact infomation query on EPP, you simply get standard EPP information regarding the Contact ID. In our API contact information call we are able to also show how many domains are linked to the contact ID and you can retrieve what domains exactly are linked to that contact ID.

3. Domain management, support and everything mentioned above yes.

We have a minimum fee of R125 per/month. This covers the first 100 domains in the system.

But we prefer to discuss this on a individual basis with the registrars because it depends on how many domains they have, their business model and plans and if you will be utilizing any additional services like the Premium DNS service or our Eshop service (http://www.eshop.co.za). The idea is that your total cost per domain should still be less than the R50 per/domain per/year mark even on our platform. This will have a huge saving come March 2013 where the legacy fee will be increased to R75 per/domain and will continue to increase after that. An Additional R25 per/domain might not seem like much until have say 1000 domains. This would cost an additional R25 000 per/year.

Your solution sounds practical and would save us a lot of admin. What is the cost for 1000 or more domains? Preferably a stepping eg. x amount every 100 domains as the ongoing cost would be a big factor in choosing your solution.

Yes, some transparency with your pricing would be appreciated, I also have 1000+ domains.

phew this sounds like a very expensive solution the R125 is ok but the per domain fee is that per month ?

Hi Webace,

Our pricing has changed since the original post on this topic and we have 2 different billing models but based on your quantity of domains, the total annual cost for a .co.za domain (ZACR fee + our fee) will be between R47 to R49.50 per/year. In addition to this we are an ICANN accredited registrar and offer ZACR registrars on our platform .com .net .org etc domains at prices ranging from $8.80 to $9.45 (ex vat). The best would be to contact our sales department on sales@domains.co.za and we can give you more information.
