Config Options vs Product Addons vs Seperate Items Issue - need some advice

I understand fully what the diff is between config options and addons but heres my issue.

I have a server for sale, $50 and it goes well with product #2, how ever the customer may not want #2 (no bundle use).

 

Product Addons wont work because I need the option for multiple quantities for product#2, and the Addons options dont allow pro-rata billing for some reason.

 

Config options allows me to choose multiple quantities but product#2 is only a One-off item (and needs prorata).

 

Having the customer order the 2 separate will be near impossible since product link #1 will take him to the order page and he wont know he can order product #2.

 

This actually gives me an idea to suggest a way for a sliding checkout method that allows you to offer other product suggestions from other categories. Eg; "Would you like to order XYZ with your ABC".

 

Btw, the reason is I will be billing product #2 on another system that measures usage of the product.
