itomic
As a website design, development, and hosting company, we're happy to give staff some free domain names. But I'm uncertain how to best manage this using WHMCS. * I want the staff members to be Clients in WHMCS (I put them in a client group called "Staff") * I want the registrant details associated with their domain name registrations to be them personally, not our company * I cannot see an opportunity to set another entity/client (in this case, our company) as the invoicing/billing contact for such domains. * It doesn't matters whether the staff members receive a $0 invoice or not. * At the moment we (our company) is *not* storing credit card details on our server in WHMCS. So, perfect world, our company gets notified by WHMCS when a domain name of a staff member is coming up for renewal, and then we have to get our company credit card out to pay the bill via WHMCS. A slight confusion I have is that, whilst we may not be charging our staff anything for their domain names, of course the domain names still have to be renewed at the registrar - and that's not free. So is it correct that we still have to go through the motions of "paying" a $0 invoice in WHMCS, but yet when that renewal request hits the registrar (eNom in this case), obviously the registrar charges whatever the reseller rates is for the domain name in question (e.g. $9.99). Thanks for anyone who can guide me on this one. We are still in the process of setting up and configuring WHMCS, using ourselves as the clients in "Phase 1", then we'll start rolling it out to a select group of clients in "Phase 2".
Sliffer21
Yes just use a price override on the domain, eNom will charge you cost but will not look at what you charge the client (Staff Member) for. It will just see they paid their invoice and it will withdraw the cost from your account.
itomic
Thanks for that. Can you advise how I ensure that we, the company, are prompted to renew the domain name, rather than the staff member?
Sliffer21
I believe enom's module reminds the client as well as the WHMCS staff, and if you set billing cycle to annual and have a price override it will bill itself as $0.00 every year and enom will see that it is paid ($0.00 automaticly sets itself as paid on duedates) So it will renew.
