Partner/reseller feature

kennethml_dk

Question

Hi,

We are currently testing WHMCS as a possible substitute for current billing solution and have this one key question:

Does WHMCS have a reseller/partner dimension in that sense that clients can be associated to a reseller/partner user. I dont think that the affiliate feauture is what we need.

For example we currently have some partners that buy webspace with us to support their own customers needs - so our partners need to be able to login and see/manage their custumers and their products.

Hope the question makes enough sense.

Kenneth

You can define client groups and colors associated with groups, discounts, and exempt form suspend terminate.

Regarding managing contact you may add a contact under a main user and define permissions of access, support, billing etc.

Just toy around with it in the demo to see what else you may need.

Hello

As per above post, The current best method for this would be using client groups, You can find more information about this here: http://docs.whmcs.com/Client_Groups

For resellers, the idea with WHMCS is that you would give your resellers a reseller account via your hosting control panel, and then you also resell them a WHMCS license, so that your clients get exactly the same features and tools as you have in your own WHMCS installation for managing their clients and billing, and WHMCS will communicate and manage accounts within their reseller account on your hosting.

Cheers

Liam

I dont think thats quite what the OP means here. i think the idea is to get the reseller to sell your own services/products, not to have them leasing from you then subdividing for their clients?

is that closer to your plan?

Actually on closer reading of his post, i kind of see the idea.. they resell your product and everything they resell becomes associated directly with them within whmcs... i see no way to do this, unless the reseller chooses to use whmcs and you permit their whmcs installation access to your own whmcs installation api thats a risky move at best.

It is a good idea, i do think that this could be acheived by whmcs creating a stripped out version of whmcs that is designed specifically to interface with another whmcs installation... then all you would need is a licensing addon for licensing each whmcs installation. so your primary installation licenses other installations to access it.

In my view this would be a good feature to whmcs and would make the lives of a great many hosts so much simpler. we buy a main license, then we buy the sub install licenses per requirements offset the cost of this in our pricing plans. Matt you might well have a cash cow here if you want to discuss the idea in more detail then drop me an inbox i am more than happy to try to bring this idea forward
