Quick Question about website Hosting Server...

YoungMoney

Question

Hello,

I have been looking for a way to develop my own domain hosting business for my clients and am thrilled to have stumbled upon this site. Before I sign up for anything, I just wanted to verify that I understand what WHMCS is and is not.

The products offered on this site, seem to help with customer/project management, billing and distributing domain names for customers. My question is: Once you have a customer who is ready to purchase a domain, where is that domain and the associated files stores (i.e. a server)?

Do you have options for servers that we can use? I already have an account with InMotion Hosting for my personal websites (business class hosting). They have VPS options which are more affordable than their dedicated servers which start at about $200 per month... would VPS work with WHMCS components or is a DS required?

Also, Hostgator has a reseller server hosting option. Does the WHMCS system integrate with this program?

If the first two companies I mentioned above do not integrate with your systems, are there are any other companies that you would recommend for hosting the domain name and files once a transaction is complete?

Thanks so much and have a great day.

Hello

Thank you for your intrest in WHMCS, Hopefully this answers all your questions

When a order is placed the data is stored inside a mysql database on the server your WHMCS is hosted on

WHMCS can indeed work on a VPS, However it also works on shared hosting (So it would work on your current hosting), Please kindly view here WHMCS requirements: http://docs.whmcs.com/System_Requirements

I believe HostGator use Cpanel/WHM for reselling, WHMCS comes with a server module for WHM/Cpanel that will allow you to auto provision hosting accounts, you can view more information on this module here: http://docs.whmcs.com/CPanel/WHM

Cheers

Liam
