Knowledgebase text area not operating correctly

I have been suffering this issue for some time

It also affects the Mass Mail tool, but is not such an issue

 

I am able to create new Knowledgebase articles and titles

However when I insert text the first attempt fails to save the text

Equally it can take several attempts

For the last few months I have been copy/pasting a long list of letters, save that to see if that text is saved and then edit

 

I have tested in IE6, IE8, IE9, and FF3 but all return the same issue

 

Any and all advice welcome
