Problem with sending Mails out of WHMCS

Since a few days I have problems with sending out mails from WHMCS.

I always activated SMTP in my settings with the correct details. It worked for a long time but now I get errors. I didnt change anything in my WHMCS installation or the server installation.

I always get those errors with TLS enabled:

Email Sending Failed - Language string failed to load: tls

or

SMTP server error: 2.0.0 Ready to start TLS 

If I deactivate TLS i get this error:

Email Sending Failed - SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.

 

But the settings are correct. It worked for a long time. Whats the problem?

 

With PHPMail it seems to work.

is this your server - i.e. you have root access? What kind of OS is it and is there any kind of server management software on it (WHM)?

The SMTP tweak in WHM can mess things up.
