designpc
This is probably a really stupid question. I have a VPS, with cPanel and WHM installed, and SSL. However, how do I setup up a https bit of a website for example WHMCS? cPanel is setup so that https will work, but im unsure what im supposed to do. Thanks

Thanks Hey, You will need to buy an SSL certification. They go from $10 - $1,000 a year. You can go to, http://www.namecheap.com/learn/other-services/ssl-certificates.asp And by the RapidSSL for $12.88 a year. Once paid you will need to install it on your VPS server. You will also need one dedicated IP for the domain. You can either contact your host to set this up for you, or hire a server management company (like my self) to set this up for you. Hope that helps, Adam

Also how would I go about installing it? Thanks again. Hey, You can create a SSL certification on your own, its called a "Self-Signed Certification". However most if not all self-signed certifications error out causing the https or SSL connection to break. A warning message will be sent to who ever visits your site using https and told that the certification is in-valid. I'm not going to discuss on how to set this up because its really point-less. Once you buy your certification, you will need to assign that domain a dedicated IP and using root WHM, use the install SSL certification tool. Just fill in the required fields and upload the .crt and bundle file you will get. You can either contact your host and they might set this up for you, or hire a server management company (like my self) to install this. You can also check out, http://namecheap.simplekb.com/kb.aspx On more information. From, Adam
0 SpookedOut
Firstly you would need to puchase yourself a SSL certificate from Namecheap for example (see: http://www.namecheap.com/learn/other-services/ssl-certificates.asp). I don't advise you create one yourself for the 'free, cheap' way around it. You may embark upon this for help. It has a fully illustrated tutorial on how to enable SSL under cPanel/WHM .. Hope this helps! http://www.digicert.com/ssl-certificate-installation-apache-cpanel.htm
