yahost
hi, Some ppl have claimed that they are not getting the signup info nor the tickets emailed to them. I have change this from php to smtp but still nothing as a matter of fact when smtp mode is selected the program doesnt send mail to any one. and comes up with an error. Mail not sent and Yes the mail settings were correct. one of the ones that claimed this had a gmail for his email. but I have gotten the copies sent to my email Is there a way to allow free emails to get mail? me personaly I do not like free emails but if the CC clears I dont mind them I would like to turn off the signing up of free emails all together where do you do that? thanks
Adam
Hey, Your server might be black listed. http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ip4r.ch?&ip=72.202.127.98 It could also be a problem with your SMTP server. You can also try adding an SPF record to your DNS record for your main site. Hope that helps, Adam
pacwebhosting
Hi, You will need to add an SPF record and ensure your reverse DNS is all correct. hotmail aol and many other providers will sometimes not even deliver the email to a junk folder if it doesnt meet these requirements. Info http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/technologies/senderid/default.mspx Tool to create your SPF record http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/content/technologies/senderid/wizard/ "You are encouraged to e-mail Microsoft after you post your SPF record to the DNS. This will help ensure that your record is automatically included in the SIDF cache and reduce DNS latency. Send an e-mail message with your domain name in the body of the message (for example, mydomain.com) to senderid@microsoft.com. If you have multiple domain names, list each domain on a separate line in the body of the message." I would only email them after you ensure your reverse DNS authenticates correctly. You can also do the same for the other providers aol etc but you will need to root out their email addresses as I dont have them to hand. IE if your email is sending from @yourdomain.com then the ip address of your mailserver must when reverse looked up resolve to yourdomain.com http://www.dnsreport.com/ Your reverse DNS is adsl-76-202-127-98.dsl.rcsntx.sbcglobal.net [76.202.127.98] which will explain why your emails go astray. http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?&domain=ya-host.com to close the open DNS server visit here http://member.dnsstuff.com/info/opendns.php Hope this helps you out its a bit of a long process but it does work and it is not instant but its the only way to sort it out. Gears
Hey which do you think is better to use? php mail() or smtp?
trine
It shouldn't matter much. either should be fine, but occasionally, depending on your system, dns, php config, and other stuff, it is somethings 'easier' to use smtp to ensure your mails go through.
