Configurable Hosting Package Addon

Recommended Posts

This is a great addition to WHMCS, but it should be free, or at least paid with the license (eg. a few extra $/month). Otherwise I'd also like to try it out before purchasing.

I look forward to automatic provisioning with Plesk.

Do you mean this?

whmcs.com/configurablepackageaddon.php

I was allready wondering why you are not able to build your own "Configurable package" page, or why it is not included.

Dedicated servers are often sold with certain options.

You can. The addon is only for the automated provisioning on a cPanel server. That's why there is nothing to demo.

SO if you purchase WHMCS this "configurable hosting package addon" is included but works only with Cpanel backend?

No, configurable options are included with WHMCS as standard. They are used frequently by users for many different uses such as server configurations, product customisations. What the addon is for, is taking the values from those fields and then having them automatically setup as the specs of a package on cPanel servers. Normally setup would have to be done manually. It's all explained in furthur detail on the addons info page.

Yes I understand Matt but, I feel it should be part of a owned or lease license as part of the cpanel mod. Unless it was an addon that may have been created by someone other than WHMCS. I saw a post where some one requested vendor features and your answer I think was to create your own and share it with the community.

Just voicing my opinion Matt. I think you are doing a great job with WHMCS.

My opinion, since we all have one.... (not specifically directed towards WHMCS)

We love the product either way... and will not change our billing system again.

I personally think it should be included, and the monthly/owned license fee should slightly increased.

This way everyone has the feature, and even though WHMCS is profiting less per install, every install of WHMCS will include this feature thus yielding a larger profit margin for WHMCS CO.

crude example:

Would you rather sell 10 items at at $5.00 each? or sell 100 items at $1.00 each? simple math, I am sure everyone would agree....

I am by no means saying WHMCS addon is only worth $1, its just an example to prove a point that selling more items for less money will always yeild more return than selling a few at a higher dollar figure.

BTW, the above example works for any product or service..... Try it, works like a champ for us.

The reasoning behind offering this item as an addon was because not everyone needs it and it's not essential to the system. Seems not many people agree with that, probably because everyone wants it!

On the issue of price increases, that is one possibility, given the expanding feature set and popularity WHMCS now has, but even if the price was to increase, I don't think existing customers who signed up at the lower prices could be expected to pay a higher price all of a sudden.

and if you ever think about releasing a non encoded version, (on a case by case basis like you must have been a customer for a year or something etc,) so we could really customise it or so we could write our own addons, etc, i bet there would be a market for that too.

How about an increase in new license purchases an adjust the lease fees accordingly for new leases and grandfather everybody now who ownes a license, or just add a small increase to the yearly support for all.

Just an example Matt

Jesus... it's $69.95 / £35 hardly going to break the bank. And it's a one time fee.

Many scripts/products have paid add-ons for example Kayako Live Support Winapp SIP Addon, InstaAlert etc... :)

I personally think for what WHMCS is, it's too cheap.

Ok then why not make every new features/modules request an addon and pay $69.00 one time fee. This should be part of a cpanel upgraded module.

I also think the purchase price is to cheap and should be raised for all new customers and include this and any modules created as part of an upgrade to an already great product. :D

WHMCS creates the account on the server - there's nothing to see admin side except for the configurable options you setup which you can do in a standard install of WHMCS - it just won't be transferred onto the server without this addon.
