Free Trials - This is driving me mad!

I cannot believe that setting up something as basic as a free trial promotion can prove so problematic! I must have missed something, so looking for help here please.

I would like to be able to offer a promotion with the following conditions:

  1. Client pays monthly
  2. 1st month is free
  3. Subscription payments through 2CO set up at commencement of order to cover subsequent monthly payments
  4. So that both credit card is processed and fraud check is completed before the account is set up

I would also like to be able to offer a promotion with:

  • Annual payments that started after a free 1st month
  • But where all the invoice and payment processing was completed at the commencement of the order so that again both credit card is processed and fraud check is completed before the account is set up

How do I accomplish this please?

I have tried the Free Trial as suggested on this page: http://docs.whmcs.com/Common_Promotions

I end up with 'an error has occurred - please try again' when I click on the Pay Now button with credit card selected as the payment option. What should be the invoice page: viewinvoice.php?id=

The id parameter is missing and the url is exactly as above. It is as if the invoice is not being created for some reason; due to zero balance?

Appreciate any help, thanks!
