nzinside
If customer transfers a domain name to my company, would I be reasonable to expect some credit from customer former domain name service provider? Say, customer's got one more year for his domain name with ABC company. What would happen to his prepaid cost for the remaing one year if he transfers to us? Would ABC will credit monies to us?
PPH
The year associated with the transfer is added on to the remaining time on the domain.
trine
Yep, as PPH says, with a few exceptions. In general, you should note that a domain can't be transferred within 30-90 days (depending on TLD) after registration or transfer. For .com, .net and many other popular TLDs, the domain must be 60 old. For transfers of NET, .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, or .US etc, the remaining extension is added to the new 1 year transfer. For .uk and a few other TLDs, you can transfer to another registrar, but you loose the extension. You can find out all the details of this by reading the individual registration agreements provided at your registrar. Hope this helps
