Force order template from hook

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I'm trying to force a specific orderform template from a hook.

When I run this code:

global $smarty;
$smarty->assign('carttpl', 'boxes');

I get it right, and I can check it using:

echo "<pre>_tpl_vars: " . print_r($smarty->_tpl_vars,TRUE) . "</pre>";

But when I open cart.php, template is not changed. I've tried clearing cookies and templates cache, but can't get a different template shown. I want the same behavior as when using

cart.php?carttpl=boxes

What am I missing?

FYI: I'm using "ClientAreaPage" hook point.
