Product / Services related data and variables

we are trying to achieve pulling the product/services variables and data on the "header.tpl"

 

I added a below code to our header.tpl although its not working and not rendering the variable values at all. Can someone shed some light on this?

$orderid = $this->get_template_vars('password');

$userid = $_SESSION["uid"];

 

// get client data

$result = select_query("tblhosting","password",array("id"=>$userid));

$data = mysql_fetch_array($result);

$MyVar = decrypt ($data['password'], $encryption_key);

$this->assign('MyVar',$MyVar);

 

{/php}

 

and then i add {$MyVar} to place where i need it to reflect the value - although it generates a blank output.

 

any help is appreciated.
