I have been using the trial version and I do really want to staryt using WHMCS instead of phpCOIN but I have a few questions about the domain part of WHMCS.

 

I have seen that you can use two different register called DirectI (ive already created one account on WHMCS) and RegisterFLY (which i also have an account for).

 

My hosting uses the following nameservers

 

 
ns1.domain.com
ns2.domain.com
ns3.domain.com
ns4.domain.com

 

But I have seen that in DirectI that you can use Branded Names Servers for all domains bought through you but they have to be different to the ones that I use for the hosting.

 

So in the default nameservers in WHMCS do I use custom nameservers that is set up on DirectI on order for domain forwarding and the other services that you get with DirectI.

 

The next question is about RegisterFLY's Free Hosting offer with each domain. Will this free hosting offer will also get carried on if my customers register with RegisterFLY Reseller.

you can actually set the default registration servers at directI to your own if you will not be using the hosting or other features there.

The problem that I think I will have, is that some customers will only get a domain and will want to use domain forward etc (maybe anyway) but if it is using my hosting DNS, it will not work as I can nto see anywhere where WHMCS makes the DNS records and such for just a customer with a domain.

There is a pretty decent step-by-step documentation on this in Directi's knowledgebase.

 

You need to create new private NS servers at DirectI and point them to the IPs of the ones you find in the reseller documentation/knowledgebase article.

Yeah, I have used DirectI in the past (Well a reseller of it) but is that all I need to do for the customer to be able to use redirect etc ?

Last time I checked registerfly were in the process of being closed down by ICANN. I wouldn't go within 100 miles of them for my hosting business if I were you! DirectI is fine, they've been around for years, use them myself very happily.

Yeah, I keard about that but wasn not sure if it was going to happen but anyway I have no last question before I pay for my license (from trial to paid).

 

When a user buys a domain, can they easily make child name servers etc, as a long of my clients buy VPS(s).

no it doesn;t support that. but you could add manual fields to capture the data and then do it manually
