Server Side Software Query

bithosts

Question

First of all - the solution seems impressive; well done!

Got a few queries though:

I noticed this section on your homepage:

Supported Servers

» cPanel/WHM

» DirectAdmin

» Plesk

» SCPanel

» TCAdmin (NEW!)

This makes it look like your software is based ontop of one of those bits of software, is this acurate?

Finally, do you have any support for PHP5 etc and can I add aditional modules such as tomcat/ruby-on-rails/mono?

Thanks all!

No. It is not based "ontop" of any control panel, rather connects to the API of the control panel to create, modify, suspend and delete accounts.

It does run on PHP5 and requires globals on. See also requirements:

http://support.whmcs.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&catid=3&id=1

and can I add aditional modules such as tomcat/ruby-on-rails/mono?

These are server-based, and would require the server to have JS, Tomcat, Ruby or Mono installed... not something done with provisioning software.

Cheers for the help - in that case may i suggest that thats made slightly clearer on the site.

I am still considering this software - it looks very good and adds some of the functionality that was missing from other solutions.

Could you please explain what you meant by "based ontop of"? I don't quite understand what impression you got from the site by the list of supported servers?

someone above said it perfectly - WHMCS is an application that slots into the API of other server panels. It just isnt clear that that is what it does. I was hoping that it was a complete solution on its own.

I was hoping that it was a complete solution on its own.

There aren't too many of those, and the price is steep in comparison. Helm and Plesk (with addon) offer their own integrated billing.

WHMCS on the other hand, does client management, billing, and support (as the tagline suggests :))

Another is Hsphere http://www.psoft.net. We use it BUT we feel the built in billing is not suitable for our needs and so we have purchased WHMCS and are now working on getting it talking to Hsphere 8)

Greetings Paul,

Did you manage to get WHMCS working with Hsphere? I think this would be an ideal solution for us as it integrates billing, knowledge base and support desk. Three features our current hsphere clusters lack. Would be nice to tie everthing into one interface. As well, allow us to sell domains aside from our hosting services.

Seasons Greetings,

Dan
