How to change $gid in the same page?

Hi,

 

 

I would like to generate all our products at the same page, therefore the gid variable needs to change a few times

while generating. I vainly tried to change the gid variable putting some PHP code:

<?php
     $gid="x";
?>

before the foreach process:

{foreach key=num item=product from=$products}...<form>...{$product.name}...{$product.description}...

 

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I also tried:

{$gid=x}

{assign $gid=x}

I've managed to change the $gid variable using the following code:

{php}
      $this->assign('gid',x);    
{/php}

 

But it seems to be more complicated than just changing the gid The generated products are still the same. Any ideas how to change the $product array for another $gid?
