generic
i would not call this a bug, its just an annoyance that should be corrected in a future release. When a client is in their account area and they try to view an email you sent them in the past under "my emails" they receive the dreaded sll popup because the emails are using an image. I was able to correct this in the invoices by changing the url of the image, but i can not figure out how to do it using the viewemail.tpl because the images is not in the template, its in the text of the email itself. can we get this fixed or corrected in a future release, or does anyone have any ideas other than not using an image in the emails?
PPH
It hasn't occurred in our installation. What browser are you using and are you using a properly installed dedicated ssl? Also what about paths?
generic
I can change the url of the logo in the config to use https vs http and that DOES correct the issue.... now, since i dont know...just wondering if this will cause issues with people opening emails how that the url is calling a secure url... any idea. tried it out...looks like it works ok this way........thanks
Iceman
Yes that is what I have done also. I removed the config logo link. An email requesting to open a link from an SSL connection will function exactly the same way as a non SSL link. However, this should not be required for an email, as emails by nature are insecure anyway. Viewing sensitive data online is fine to use SSL and require the image/logo to be SSL'd as well. Perhaps there is some way to differnetiate the email from the online version so that the email is not SSL'd? Cheers, Paul
s1rk3ls
I've been using an email logo via an SSL address since day 1 on WHMCS and haven't noticed any problems with it (in email or in the client area) If you have an insecure email logo, clients on an SSL connection (such as to their webmail, hotmail, gmail, etc.) will receive an error - so it's best to have your email logo accessed via https... This way it will not give an error in any situation (unless your SSL certificate is not installed correctly or isn't validated by a trusted root)
Iceman
Hi s1rk3ls, Well in that case (webmail, hotmail, gmail etc) ... having the logo SSL'd is a VERY good reason. Cheers, Paul
