quickhost
Hi Guys, Just wanted to share my finding, hoping it will help at least 1 other person, and apologies to the guys out there that already know this, but I didnt, so I assume some other might not as well. I upgraded to the latest version of WHMCS myself, copying the whmcs folder up onto my server. As soon as I did this, I was recieving Internal Server Error 500 from the browser. I quickly removed the site, and re-uploaded my backup, only to find the same issue. After several hours of scratching around, i found that in my error log i was getting "index.php" is smaller than min_uid" A bit more googling indicated that some system/root accounts have UID less than 100, and a normal user is greater than 100. I then discovered that you cannot (in my situation) install WHMCS from the root account, and it must be from a user account. Logging in as the user, uploading the backup quickly fixed the issue. (now in the progress of upgrading under the owner account) So in a nutshell: In my case, i needed to be logged in as the user/owner of WHMCS to upgrade/install the application, not as root. You could possibly simpy change the owner as well if your inclined from the root account. Just hope it helps some others out there.
