Have I ever told you guys...

Same here... I upgraded my personal laptop to Vista Ultimate. So limited time with it. Windows explorer is just plain hateful.... :( Many of my personal programs won't run on Vista. An OS update came down and killed the Event Notification System, which in turn killed network connectivity! Had to restore from a point prior to the update to fix it.

Not near ready for prime time yet.

Hi disenioweb,

I dont have it running on my PCs yet by a friend does. He is quite technically minded but has all sorts of driver issues with Vista.

It LOOKS nice but:

- From what we have seen it really needs 2Gig of Ram to run properly (compared to XP that runs well with 1Gig).

- Has numerous driver problems as the device manufacturers may not be uptodate yet.

- Is bloatware to the extreme!

- Costs a lot more money for heaps more bugs.

But hey if all you are after a pretty PC that isnt near as stable as XP, then Vista may be for you

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Roger, can you explain in a few points, why do you hate windows vista ( im using winxp ) and i love it....

Thanks

Hello disenioweb, Iceman's comments are spot on. I like XP also, its very stable and solid.

The upgrade process was very painful. DVD access was killed, sound died and many other driver problems. I have 2gb mem on the laptop and Vista is sluggish. Not real bad but more than enough to say the XP install it replaced was much faster.

I had a dual boot system with XP and CentOS linux. The upgrade orphaned the linux partition. Not a show stopper but very annoying. I use some Micro$oft accounting (SBA2007) and Vista says it's not compatible.

As I had mentioned in earlier post. Lost all network connectivity, couldn't access the Event logs and system warned that anyone but a local admin would have limited access. After researching and discovering that many Vista users suddenly are experiencing the same problem. It seems the issue was caused by a Micro$oft update.

I'm an IT Professional, Network Administrator for a mid-sized city in Kentucky. Been doing this kinda of work for many, many years. I've used every version of DOS and every version of Windows. I remember when the lucky few that could afford a hard drive, 10mb was considered huge. In my opinion Vista was rushed out the door to meet the marketing hype. It just ain't ready for the masses yet.

And yes, I love linux... not that good with it but I love it.

Right on guys!

It still amazes me sometimes how many people jump on the MS bandwagon, every time they launch a new product ... Early adoption has always proved to be a job-security for MCSE's and other techs, more than a solid corporate decision, not to mention woes for the average user.

Give it to MS, though, their profit is up 65%.
